Why crop to a circle in the browser?
A profile photo is literally a picture of your face — the least anonymous file you own. Online croppers that upload it to a server add a silent middleman to something a browser can do perfectly well by itself. This tool draws your photo onto a canvas on your own device, masks everything outside the circle, and hands you back a transparent PNG. Frequently asked questions
Will the background outside the circle be transparent?
Yes. The output is a PNG with a true transparent background outside the circle, so it drops cleanly onto any page, chat or profile — no white box around your avatar.
Why is the output PNG and not JPG?
JPG has no transparency — a circular crop saved as JPG would sit inside a solid square, which defeats the purpose. PNG keeps the round edge genuinely transparent. Every platform that accepts profile pictures accepts PNG.
Which part of my photo ends up inside the circle?
The tool centers the circle on your image and uses the largest circle that fits. For most portraits that's exactly right. If your subject is off-center, crop the photo roughly square around them first (any screenshot tool works), then drop it here — the circle will land where you want it.
What size should a profile picture be?
The 512×512 preset is a safe universal choice: Discord, Slack, and most forums display avatars at 128px or smaller but store a larger master. Pick Original size if you want maximum resolution — the tool never upscales your photo, so quality is preserved either way.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The crop happens in your browser with the Canvas API — your photo is processed in your device's memory and never transmitted. Close the tab and nothing remains.
